All Latin American Language Services (LALS) programmes are tailored to suit individual requirements, with an emphasis on teaching you what you actually need to know to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese. Every level will be adjusted to the language needs of the individual or group, so the descriptions outlined below are only guides to each level. Using these will help you plan your objectives in the language. LALS GROUP IN LONDON & SURBITON

The hours listed per level are for starting to learn a language from scratch. All levels last 20 weeks but there is a break every 10 weeks. You can join any LALS course at any time.

BEGINNERS & ELEMENTARY Requires 60 hours

At the end of this level you will be able to:
• Ask and understand simple questions about profession, nationality and family
• Give information about work and daily activities
• Talk about recent past events and future events (this only applies to Elementary level)

At the end of this level you will be able to:
• Describe facts and progressive actions in the past
• Describe simultaneous events in the past
• Form simple phrases in the subjunctive

• Take very detailed information over the phone
